As a fine art, it is critical to strive to continuously draw students into the program and improve upon it. Next year the journalism program should give students the option of taking the class for honors credit. This will not only expand the program, but it will also improve the work ethic and quality of Desert Vista’s school newspaper. I propose that within each class above the 1-2 level, students should individually get the option of honors credit, using the same system that choir and band have.  Honors students would have requirements to meet on top of regular requirements. This could be needing extra points each deadline, needing to sell more advertisements, or needing to do at least one article or photo from each section the student is in. Offering honors credit would greatly improve the program.D
