Girls golf is cool
Golf is lame? It’s slow? It’s boring? It’s not a sport?
Rethink how you think of golf. It is an underappreciated sport that is not only difficult, but is also extremely beneficial to its players – socially, health-wise and education-wise.
Golf is a game of socialization. As much time as golfers spend planning out their next shot, they spend time talking with their competitors and the other people nearby. Golf teaches friendliness, even during competition. A huge aspect of golf is talking. Golfers learn to carry a conversation with others in a casual, fun setting.
The game is good for the players’ health. It reduces stress by releasing endorphins; it forces creativity when planning the next shot, constantly making players envision shots in their head; golf also allows the brain to work in so many ways that it has been proven delay mental disorders such as dementia. It has also been proven to lengthen lifespans by about five years. As any sport, it also brings better sleep due to the daily excercise that it requires. Golfing also can be a great source of exercise. If you are not using a golf cart and instead choose walking, 1400 calories can be burned in approximate 6 mile courses.
There are many many scholarships available to golf players, especially to females who know the basics. A great resource for students aspiring to play golf in college is athleticscholarships.net. The Dinah Shore Scholarship is specifically for senior girls who do not plan on joining a competitive collegiate team. The Marilyn Smith Scholarship is also for senior girls who have already been accepted to a university and have a GPA of at least 3.2, but the applicants must be planning on playing on a competitive collegiate team. The Pyhllis G. Meekins Scholarship is for females in the minority that have a financial need and have a GPA of 3.0. One $1,250 scholarship is available. There are plenty other scholarships out there, too.
After reading about all these fantastic scholarships, reconsider what you think about golfers and their game. Maybe you might want to join in on the fun too.
