Desert Vista’s best waffle club

“Best part of the club is that you can show up whenever on Wednesdays and you can always have a waffle ready for you.” Ethan Lynch, a member of the Waffle Club, said.

Many have taken notice to a club that many would consider interesting. Desert Vista’s Waffle Club meets every Wednesday morning at 7:15 in room C166. Everybody in the club has a blast according to Lynch, and best of all, you make waffles the whole time!

“The leaders of the club are me, Peter Baez, Gabe Alanis, Mauricio V. Romeo G., and Ethan B.,” Lynch said. “The leaders are all seniors except for me.”

While it may seem very plain and simple, the reason for creating the club is straightforward. Lynch explained it best when he said, “I enjoy waffles and it’s in the morning so I decided, Hey, why not just go to Waffle Club and cook up some waffles.” Who can disagree?

“The downside, it’s a pain to clean-up,” Lynch said when asked about the worst part of being a club member. “You have batter everywhere and you need to wait for the waffle makers to cool before you put them away. Cleanup time is probably the only downside to the club.”

When asked about the downfalls, Lynch had trouble thinking of anything. He could not find anything else to complain about.

“Requirements to join is that you must contribute to the club” Lynch said. “People who do not contribute will not get a waffle unless they pay the $1.67 entry fee.”

There is no screening process to join, nor any referral process needed. Simply show, make waffles, and have a good time. Lynch described the club’s interaction in a light-hearted tone, showing it is nothing but a great time.

“My personal favorite batter is just a plain Belgian mix, but some people in the club like to include random stuff like chocolate chips and the occasional little dash of candy,” Lynch said.

Lynch said that some used chocolate chips in their batter, as well as candy. He claimed nobody has paired the waffles with chicken, but didn’t rule it out as a future possibility.

“Right now as the club is still relatively new, we have not done any combos with waffles,” said Lynch. “The only thing we have done is put cinnamon buns onto the waffle makers and made them into waffles. We are very serious about not mentioning our counterpart (pancakes) in our club. It may sound silly, but that is just how the club operates.”
