For the people who don’t know, Lonely Planet is an organization that publishes travel-guide books, and according to Lonely Planet, there are a few places that you have to travel to in the US in 2016. From small unknown towns, to busy cities, this list will definitely get you started on your traveling bucket list for this year.

 

  1. Southern New Mexico

This area is known for its amazing scenery and landscape, and many monuments. The area has lots of interesting rock formations and rare white sand dunes. You can explore and learn more at the White Sands National Monument and Bottomless Lakes State Park.

 

  1. Somerville, Massachusetts

This small city is known for it food and weird attractions, and because of this, it attracts many young travelers. There are lots of music festivals and art festivals. The city’s best invention, the Marshmallow Fluff, is celebrated and honored at the Fluff Festival. It’s one of the most popular and exciting festival that the city offers.

Alaska is home to plenty of nature wonders and large national parks. Wrangell-St. Elais, the world’s second largest national park, is in Alaska. This park offers hiking, kayaking and the sight of the Northern Lights. Along with this popular park, Alaska offers plenty of volcanoes and glaciers to observe and admire.

Northwest Arkansas has a lot to offer with thick, dark forests and clear lakes. These lakes are so clear, you can stick your hand into the water and count each finger clearly.  Along with this, Alaska is home to large cliffs and shining rivers, as well as the great and beautiful Ozark Mountains.

Everywhere you turn you are looking at something different. That’s what it’s like to be at the YellowStone National Park. It has super volcanoes, great geysers, thick forests and hot springs, as well as large canyons. Established in 1873, this popular attraction invites almost 35 million people every year. Once in YellowStone, you won’t want to turn you back on anything.
