Classic hollywood monsters such as Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, The Invisible Man and The Mummy are getting a revamp in Universal Studios new monster universe. Universal Studios was built on horror movies and the company is honoring this by giving their most treasured monsters a modern makeover.

This series has been talked about for the last couple of years but has only just been confirmed. Producers Chris Morgan and Alex Kurtzman are overseeing these movies, the first monster to be remade being the The Mummy, coming out in 2017.

“Heroes tend to be perfect but most people in the audience aren’t ever going to know what it’s like to be the smartest, strongest, or fastest person alive. But there’s a darkness inside everybody….The monster have been in the shadows, and now it’s time to bring them out into the light,” says Morgan.

There has also been word on interconnecting the films, introducing characters to each other. Big actors such as Tom Cruise and Johnny Depp are on board, Tom Cruise will be starring in The Mummy as the “new Brendan Fraser.” However there has been no confirmation on Depp’s role.Although classic monster movies are just that, ‘classic’, it will be exciting to see what modern movie making techniques and effects will do to Frankenstein, The Mummy and The Wolfman.
