Revolution Radio Album Review Part 2

Green Day has been one of the most recognized punk bands for almost twenty years. With their twelfth studio album just released, Revolution Radio is on it’s way to success.

Still Breathing: The second half of the album begins poorly with the worst song off of the album. Although the message of the song is about self-recognition with most of its lyrics sung in similes. Released as the third single, this track is an overall disappointment because it sounds like a song off one of their most least successful albums; Uno, Dos and Tres. Armstrong’s nasally vocals turn the beautiful verses of the songs into something painful to listen to.

Youngblood: Track eight is a love song dedicated to his wife Adrienne Armstrong whom he has been married to for twenty years. Rather than a slow sappy ballad, this track is an upbeat pop-punk tune.

Rate: 3/4

Too Dumb To Die: This upbeat track is a classic punk song. With the electric guitar being present for almost the entire song; similar to track six Bouncing Off the Wall, there isn’t a time where the song is mellow.

Rate:3/5

Troubled Times: Song ten is about exactly what the title says it is; living in troubled times. The lyrics take inspiration from their previous albums, American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown, where the main topic is about the poor state of America and the government.

Rate:4/5

Forever Now: Three different unrelated songs all blend together perfectly, all wrapped together in the almost seven minutes song. It repeats the beginning part of track one Somewhere Now, towards the end of the song, bringing the illusion of coming back from an adventure.

Rate:4/5

Ordinary World: The last song on this album was a cover of a song that is featured in the movie Ordinary World, that Armstrong stars in. Released on October 14, Armstrong plays Perry Miller; an ex punk rock star that has been succumbed to live in the adult life-style. The song itself it sung beautiful and his vocals are perfect.

As the album comes to a close, it is concluded that Green Day will now have another major accomplishment.
