“Revolution Radio” Concert Review

On March 1st 2017, Green Day started the fourth leg of their Revolution Radio tour after a month break in Phoenix Arizona, at the Talking Stick Resort and Arena. Green Day is an American rock band that has been around since 1986 and consists of three main members Billie Joe Armstrong who sings lead vocals and plays guitar, Mike Dirnt who sings backup and plays lead guitar and Tres Cool who plays the drums.  The opening act, Against Me!, went on at 7:30 and played a half an hour. FInally, Green Day took stage at 8:30 and played until 11:00 including four encores.

The band opened strong with an old song titled Know your enemy and the crowd immediately went crazy. It was the perfect song to get the crowd excited for what’s to come for the concert. Green Day started off with energetic songs and went into more of the slow ballads towards the end of the show. Armstrong never seemed to wear of or show any signs of exhaust during his performance. He flawlessly jammed out of his guitar and sang all the notes perfectly. This is a perfect example of multitasking. You could feel his energy in the room and had such a fierce stage presence. There was no part of the concert that was boring.

When the concert supposedly ended with a song called Forever Now, Green Day came back out one more time to perform four more songs. He sang his famous American Idiot having the crowd do most of the singing. He then went into the nine minute long Jesus of Suburbia and then the ballad, Ordinary World. He finished the whole show perfectly with the song Good Riddance better known as “Time of Your Life” and red and white Green Day confetti burst everywhere and the three members disappeared for good.
