Natural wonders of America
With spring break under our belt, everyone has their eyes set on summer. The excitement for summer break isn’t just about the lack of school for a couple months, but also for vacation! Here are some of the natural wonders the United States has to offer that are definitely worth visiting:
- Grand Canyon, Arizona
This is practically in our backyard. The epitome of desert beauty, it is one of the largest canyons in the world. Every Arizonan needs to visit it. If you’re feeling extra adventurous, try rafting the Colorado River.
- Redwoods Forest, California
California’s Redwood Forest is very different from the Grand Canyon, yet equally stunning. Redwood trees are the tallest trees in the world. These ageless trees seem to stretch into infinity and beyond.
- Crater Lake, Oregon
Formed in a volcanic crater, this lake is the deepest in the U.S. It’s lovely, deep blue color and water clarity make it the perfect vacation destination.
- Niagara Falls, New York/Ontario
Made up of three falls, Niagara Falls is on the border of New York and Ontario, Canada. Waves of crushing water rolling over the edge of rock. The combination of beauty and power is a sight we should all witness.
- Bryce Canyon, Utah
This beautiful canyon is another must-see. Rock spires called hoodoos cover the surface by the hundreds. At the bottom, you can leave your mark by adding to the forest of cairns.
- Mammoth Cave, Kentucky
For those of you with a love of creepers and crawlers, Mammoth Cave just might
be the place to go. The world’s largest cave, this phenomena stretches 400 miles.
- Antelope Canyon, Arizona
This canyon is another view that reflects the beauty of the desert. Over the years, erosion of sandstone led to the unique flowing forms. Only two hours away from the Grand Canyon, these two sights would make a worthwhile road trip.
