With Christmas right around the corner, many people will be putting up decorations. One of the most important decorations of Christmas is of course, the Christmas tree. There are different kinds of trees but many people prefer fake trees to real ones. There are many reasons this occurs and one of the most common reasons people don’t like real trees is because they are a fire hazard and very messy. “My family used to get real trees all the time, but this is our first year with a fake tree. Every year the pine needles were a big hassle to clean up.” Freshman, Hayley Clithero said. It is a known fact that real trees although beautiful, are a big mess and can even be dangerous to household items. Real trees all require a lot of attention and can die fast if you do not nurture them.  Not to mention that it hurts if you step on a needle! Although, a downside to fake tree is their cost. Depending on what kind of tree you get it can get expensive. Even when buying a real tree, it can get expensive because you have to get lights and other things to put on the tree. Also, with fake trees, they don’t come all fluffy and all so you have to take time to fluff the branches to make the tree look more realistic. I did a poll with 35 students and 32 out of 35 said their families prefer fake trees. All in all, from my research, most people prefer fake trees over real ones.
