The Addams Family Musical vs The Original

The traditional black and white Addams Family television show was broadcasted in September 18, 1964 and lasted till April 8, 1966. There were 2 seasons within the two years it ran and the show lasted a total of 25 minutes each episode. The television show was then followed by a cartoon show in 1973 called The Addams Family. Then was followed, in, 1977 with a 74 minute live action movie called Halloween with the New Addams Family. The Addams Family officially became a musical in 2009 in the Chicago tryouts. It officially joined broadway in 2010 and was closed in 2011. The production has won numerous amounts of awards including the Drama Leauge Award along with the chicago production winning the Jeff Award. The show itself is still touring and has been active from 2009-2017. Desert Vista High School decided in Spring 2017 to bring the Addams Family musical to its school. Gomez was played by Isaiah Salazar, Morticia was played by Samantha Maxwell, Wednesday was played by Jasmine Bassham, Fester was played by Jack Walton, Pugsley was played by Alicia Werner, Mai was played by Jeremy Bassham, Alice was played by Audrey Williams, Lurch was played by Cameron Kotecki, Grandma was played by Jessica Lester, and Lucas was played by Will Lombardi. Along with the main characters castings, there were 33 ancestors (ensemble). The main difference between the musical and original television show is that the musical was based off the characters from the cartoon show rather than the live action show. The musical has 21 songs along with regular acting.
