Teacher Appreciation Week

This May from Monday the 8th to Friday the 12th is Teacher Appreciation Week. Teachers build the foundation for our futures. They make us want to become doctors, lawyers, actors, writers, singers, or even a teacher ourselves. But how do we show our appreciation for our favorite teachers? Teacher appreciation week, with cards, flowers, food, etc.  There are two types of teachers, the ones we see everyday, and the ones we can’t wait to see everyday.

In an article written by facultyfoucus.com the had a section that read; “A great teacher lets students know that they can depend not only on her, but also on the entire class. A great teacher is warm, accessible, enthusiastic and caring… Great teachers possess good listening skills and take time out of their way-too-busy schedules for anyone who needs them.”

“A good teacher is someone who listens to you, helps you, gives you direction and advice,” says Aidan Strelnik, a freshman at Desert Vista High School.

There are many good teachers around campus, but one teacher in particular stood out to Aidan: Mr. Thuye. Mr. Thuye teaches band here at DV; Aidan has him fifth period and always looks forward to going to his class and learning something new.

“Mr. Thuye is my favorite teacher,” said Aidan Strelnik, “He makes me excited to learn.”

Teachers that make students excited to learn are the ones that listen, they take time to teach the things that you might not understand, they have patience with students who struggle. Teachers can easily become someone who you trust, who you go to with your problems. They become someone you are familiar with and accustomed to.
