Student Spotlight: Conversing with Michael
Even with coronavirus, junior at Desert Vista Michael Trausch is continuing to strive and succeed within the circumstances. Let’s take a moment to have a conversation with Michael.
Q: If you had to make a playlist right now in your current mood, what would be in there?
A: Sheeesh! I don’t know, I gotta think about that.
Q: In a time as chaotic as 2020, it seems that even the best of us are struggling to maintain composure. But 16-year old Jr. Michael Trausch is a prime example of someone who is and he’s doing so with flair. What are your thoughts on meditation currently in a town where pretty good you can pretty much get away from the outside world now?
A: Thoughts on meditation right now I feel like, um, it’s really good for you. And like, a lot of people should be doing it more people should be doing it. And the people that are, well, it’s just not really talked about that much. And it just kind of clears your mind and calms you down.
Q: I can relate ya share your ideas on how you think you can share your wisdom to kids who are struggling with hybrid
A: Kids who are struggling with hybrid like, honestly, me personally, I’m still struggling a little bit. So getting used to it, um if you’re struggling really take that time when you’re in person. I mean, when you’re at home and take that time to be really engaged. So if that means putting your phone away for the whole day, or just eliminating distractions to make sure you’re paying attention when you’re at home.
Q: Yeah, that’s a good one people seem to not do that they tend to go to school is a lot going on. When asked about his baseball career, Michael mentioned to me just how long he’s been working on his passion and how the season is working due to the virus, apparently, he’s pretty good. But That’s his word, not mine.
A: I’ve been playing baseball like I said since I was four. So like my whole life, you actually have to love the game to keep playing it because it’s like, it’s a grind. Like no matter what sport you play, it could be frickin like underwater basket weaving, like you still got to practice and put in time to that. And when you do it every day, like it takes up a big part of your life. What keeps me going, is just knowing that if I keep working that there might be something on the other side, (scouts still come to see you guys with COVID? Harding)not as much. And since COVID happened like tons of players didn’t get drafted. So now there’s a whole like, extra class of players in the draft this year. So there’s way more players.
Q: Oh, well that wraps up the interview. And thank you any other thoughts?
A: Nah, that was it. Thank you for having me. Of course.
