DVTTC One Acts

Desert Vista’s Thunder Theatre Company’s next performances is called One Acts. The plays will be on April 20 and 21. A One Act is a play that is a single act long, rather than the typical two acts. Desert Vista’s One Acts are written and directed by students. They used to be senior-only One Acts, but this year it was expanded so anyone can enter a play to be approved rather than just the seniors- which is how it was in previous years.

There are a total of five One Acts being performed this year. They are all original plays written by Desert Vista students. In The Beginning– by Raquel Marina, Conspiracy– by Bianca Ibarra, Sincerely Yours– by Cameron Koteki, The Grendalic by Sharif Khan and Cameron Koteki, and It’s Kind of a Funny Story- by Eliana Burns. Auditions were in March and the cast has already started rehearsals.

“I like [the play]. It has the right amount of suspense and humor” says freshman Gaby Cook about Conspiracy- which she is performing in.

There is still a way to be involved in the one acts through tech crew rather than an onstage role. Tech crew handles all the technical and backstage aspects of a show. Crew includes lights, sound, makeup, costume, props, hair and stage hands. One acts don’t require as extensive of a crew but there are still a handful of positions to fill. Applications can be picked up from stage manager Danielle Hale or the theatre teacher Ron Gingrich in room a176.
