The Desert Vista View has recently spoken with Ms. Cassandra Cline, one of the head track coaches at Desert Vista, about the very well-known DV track team and their upcoming season.

“We need to qualify in all our competitions and have four athletes per event, and have their athletes placed top eight to score team points,” said Cline.

At Desert Vista, the coaches consider the regular season as practice for the postseason and, ultimately, the state championship. They get very excited when athletes beat their personal best times, which are later celebrated.

There are several athletes here at DV who specifically excel in a variety of events, and here is a list of those athletes:

Throwers – junior Torrey Hickel and senior David France

Jumpers – juniors Connor Watson and Steven Hartshorn West

Mile and Long Distance – sophomore Amanda Davis and senior Dani Jones

Sprints and Hurdles – juniors Olivia Thorburn and Cole Tippit

The coaches at DV have high expectations for this year’s squad and look forward to a successful track and field season this spring. The athletes are excited, and the DV student body should prepare for a potential award-winning spring.
