Tiger’s pitcher battling cancer

Daniel Norris a pitcher who plays for the Detroit Tigers revealed Monday on Instagram and Twitter that he is battling Thyroid Cancer.

Daniels is 22 years old and was born on April 25,1993 in Johnson City,Tennessee. Daniels was in the second round draft pick in 2011 and was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays. Daniels played with the Blue Jays in 2011 until 2014 then he was taken by Tigers in 2015. Daniel said in a Instagram post “Baseball kept me sane” he also said “Regardless the results on the field I forgot about it when I was between the lines”.Daniels will play until the end of the season and then have surgery.

Richard Griffin a teammate said, “He’s a different cat. He beats to his own drummer. But he was a part of this” . . .He also said,“It really puts things in perspective. I sure hope he’ll be fine.”

Dalton Pompey a former teammate said, “I remember him telling me that had gone to the doctor for something in his throat. I didn’t think anything of it and he said not to worry, and now obviously it’s escalated into something else,” Pompey also said, “He’s one guy who doesn’t dwell on negativity. And he’s in tune with God as well and I know he’s going to be alright and he’s going to get through this.”
