Rugby Player
Rugby is an English originated sport that is a combination of soccer, football, and wrestling. Junior Cameron Diamond has been playing rugby for a year now.
“I have been playing for a full year now, my buddy rex brought me out and ever since i have loved playing it.”
He is an Arizona All star elite rugby player. He is also the second best player in Arizona against Malekai Knox. Most rugby games end in serious injuries.
“The worst injury i have given is splitting a guy’s femur in half.”
Cameron has sustained about seven injuries including breaking all of his fingers and toes. He has also given a number of injuries.
“I have given so many injuries I lost track, but I know i have gotten to more than a hundred.”
Last year he went to state last year and lost against Red Mountain. This year him and his team are going to state again against Red Mountain.
“Hell yea we’re going to win.”
Cameron can run a 4.5 meter dash making him the second best on the team, first being a 4.1. Cameron thinks that he thinks he must work on his defense and so does the team. He explained that his team is like his family no matter how old.
“Im best at hitting, its all I do and what my coaches want me to do.”
A big rugby tradition is a das boot. Which essentially is when a new player makes their first goal the whole team gets in a circle Linking arms and chant das boot continuously and the new player is in the middle and has to drink water and muddy grass out of their used cleet.
“The rugby family is anyone on the team whether you are in high school, 9, 6, or 14.”
