The record for the world’s largest Powerball jackpot has now been set at 1.6 billion dollars. This past week it was estimated around 900 million dollars, but no one had the lucky numbers on the pulling Saturday night. With the jackpot at 1.6 billion dollars, the person to win would go home with around 800 million dollars after taxes. The chances of one winning the lottery with a jackpot like this is 1 in 292.2 million. There are 44 states in the US that participate in the Powerball. According to NBC news, Gary Grief, director of Texas Lottery said, “At our peak last night, we were selling more than 1.2 million dollars in Powerball tickets every single minute.”
