Microsoft plans to donate $1 billion in services

Microsoft announced it will donate $1 billion in cloud computing services to nonprofits and universities over the next three years. CEO Satya Nadella said it is to help secure the idea that the cloud should be used for the public good.

Cloud computing means that instead of storing files and documents on one computer, it is in a place where any computer can access it remotely.

“Now more than 70,000 organizations will have access to technology that will help them solve our greatest societal challenges and ultimately improve the human condition and drive new growth equally,” said Nadella.
