Everybody wants a little extra money in their pocket to spend. That’s why a lot of teenagers get part-time jobs. Some of the most popular jobs for teenagers, according to an article by Marcia Hugdel on Care.com, are tutor, babysitter, retail salesperson, grocery store clerk and lifeguard. Most jobs pay minimum wage, which is currently $8.05 per hour.

Senior Jordan Trout is a receptionist at the Arizona Hair Company.

‘’I take calls, sweep the hair off the floor, and am the cashier,” said Trout.

She worked as a customer service representative at Fry’s before this job. She wants to become a physician’s assistant after high school.

A manager from Chick Fil-A says that when he hires a teenager he looks for “hard work, dedication, personality and future goals.”

The places that hire high school teenagers the most are waterparks like Big Surf and Kiwanis Wave Pool. Restaurants like Sonic, Pizza Hut and Starbucks mostly hire teenagers. Tutors can often be found through family, friends or people who currently seek help in class. You can find a babysitting job on places like Care.com or through friends. Retail stores like Ross, Dillards and Best Buy hire teenagers as well.

Tutors are always needed for younger kids and teenagers in all subjects. Babysitters often work and make the most money on Friday and Saturday nights or are mothers’ helpers during the day. Restaurants are always hiring for dish washers and waiting tables. Retail places are a great place for teenagers to work because they get discounts on clothes and merchandise wherever they work.

Teenagers are always in high demand for jobs because they can lift heavy things, stand on their feet longer and move quicker than adults.
