TA

Anyone at Desert Vista High School who would want to become a teacher’s assistant, or a “TA”, might think it’s a complicated process to go through. Whether you are a TA for a teacher, the nurse or the front office, the job comes with a lot of responsibility.

One of the most common reasons students would prefer not to become a teacher’s assistant is because it won’t give you any important credits. On the contrary, not only does it give you an elective credit, but the process to apply is as simple as filling out a form and hoping administration chooses you. The TA has made a difference in our education for almost 15 years. The population of teacher’s assistants has risen from 79,000 to 243,000 since the year 2000.

Drew Burkette, a senior at Desert Vista who is currently a TA for the front office, explains the daily experience of a teacher’s assistant.

“I like being a TA, because it’s pretty fun and easy. All you have to do is take down passes and then you can do whatever you want,” said Burkette.
