Let’s start with the trends from the late ‘60s and early ‘70s. During the 1960s, or the Golden Age, bright dresses and shirts for women raged the streets. Patterns such as stripes, polka dots and bold geometric shapes were considered “way groovy!” This was the era when casual street fashion was taken onto the runway by designer Brigitte Bardot. Clothing lines from Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, and Michael Kohrs used 60s trademarks such as mini skirts, A-line dresses, pointed toe heels and pops of bright colors at the 2013 Spring Fashion Show. The ‘70s had a very similar taste to the late ‘60s style with its extreme, bright colors and flowing skirts/pants.

Moving onto the ‘80s when Ronald Reagan was in the White House and the computers were the size of your living room, fashion was at its highest peak and it reflected the zeitgeist perfectly. Today’s grunge look of ripped jeans came from the ‘80s with its punk style. Bucket hats have also made its way back to trend which originated from the ‘80s and were known to be used by the famous 1980s rapper LL Cool J. A decade later, a whole new style is put into popularity. Not only did the fashion trends of the ‘90s were passed onto the the modern day, but also its tastes in music such as bands like Nirvana, Green Day, Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Rolling Stones. Fashion trends have blossomed back into some of today’s everyday apparel. Choker necklaces are very popular for teens and were known to be used by a well known ‘90s celebrity named Jordan Catalano. Birkenstocks have made a reappearance as a comfortable style that can fit well with anything.
