Indie rock band The 1975, returning to the U.S

The 1975, English indie rock band, featuring Matthew “Matty” Healy (vocals and guitar), Adam Hann (guitar), George Daniel (drums and vocals) and Ross MacDonald (bass) will be touring the United States starting in December. This band, who comes from Manchester, England, formed in 2002 and has since grown to become one of the most talked about bands in England, Europe and now the U.S.

Their music is said to be a “perfect blend of dance rock and pop hooks.” Their debut album opened at No. 1 on the UK charts over two years ago. The album consists of their most popular songs like “Chocolate,” “Robbers” and “Girls.” Sixteen tracks of anthemic rock add on to the band’s debut; moreover, seven of those tracks have been released as singles, increasing the degrees of their international success.

They have gone in just a year from playing the upstairs room of a pub in north London (capacity: 200) to selling out three nights at Brixton Academy (total ticketing: nearly 15,000), giving the impression of a rapid rise. They have supported Rolling Stones in Hyde Park. With a dark and mysterious attitude, The 1975 have gained significant popularity in the teenage female demographic. Music from The 1975 is inspired by bands such as Coldplay, U2 and Michael Jackson. As ever, though, the 1975’s overnight success took years. One of the reasons why was because they were rejected by every major label due to the refusal to settle on one genre/type of music.

As being a fan of their music, the band can be heard as gritty vignettes and very vintage. The 1975 will be returning to the US to perform a concert at the Marquee Theatre in Tempe, Arizona on Monday, December 14, 2015.
