Maroon 5 has been a popular band over the years, and their recent album release, “V”, brought out some more hit songs like “Maps” and “Animals”. The rest of the album did not receive much praise, until a song from the album, “Sugar”, gained some popularity in the past month. This album continues to show how Maroon 5 is fading away from their old style and turning into a spotlight show for their lead singer, Adam Levine.

The mains songs on the album, “Animals” and “Maps”, are the star songs. They are the most recognized songs on the track, with the catchy chorus and energetic lyrics of “Animals” and funk-type style of “Maps” that gives the track an interesting charm. These two songs are very different from the band’s old original instrumental style, replaced by a more electronic melody. One problem with “Animals” is that it is kind of repetitive, but other than that, these two songs are the light that shines in this album.

With Maroon 5’s new electronic sound came some generic electronic tracks. Songs like “Feelings”, “Shoot Love”, and “Unkiss Me” only show the presence of Adam Levine and not Maroon 5. That is a big problem with their changed sounds; the electronic tracks take over the band’s instrumental talent, leaving Levine to be the only one to show any talent on these songs.

A few other songs are like this, but these main three just don’t show Maroon 5’s potential.

One underrated song on this track is “Lost stars”. This track truly shows the band’s original style and talent with a great acoustic song. Not only do the guitar and other instruments sound great, the lyrics are pretty clever. This is definitely a song that deserves more fame and should be listened to.

Besides the generic songs on this album, there are some good songs that reflect Maroon 5’s talent in their new style. Some people say the band should go back to their old ways of music, and others enjoy their new funk and upbeat songs. Every band or musician changes in good or bad ways in their career; after all it’s their job to keep pleasing the constantly-changing media. The media has a thirst for electro-funk songs, which probably led to the band’s change, but with that change, their true original potential remained the same.
