Four-time Oscar winning director and screenwriter Wes Anderson has one of the most unique, well-known styles of directing and set designing. Using his own style when directing, he has become rather famous for movies like Fantastic Mr. Fox, Bottle Rocket and, most recently, The Grand Budapest Hotel.

“The editing … and the construction of the sets and the design of the sets, even if it’s on location — this is all carefully planned,” Anderson said. “We gather all of the ingredients and we have it very prepared so that when the day comes to shoot, everything is sort of quite set in that way.

Anderson is also well-known for using a maximum of five colors when set designing, while also using centering and symmetry to create a perfect scene.

“I have a way of filming things and staging them and designing sets. There were times when I thought I should change my approach, but in fact, this is what I like to do. It’s sort of like my handwriting as a movie director,” Anderson said.

One of Anderson’s most popular movies is Fantastic Mr. Fox, Anderson’s first claymation. It featured a star-studded cast including George Clooney, Bill Murray and Meryl Streep.

“I love working with actors,” said Anderson. “That’s what the set really is, for me. It’s my time with the actors.”

As of 2015, Anderson does not have any known upcoming work so far this year.

“That’s the kind of movie that I like to make, where there is an invented reality and the audience is going to go someplace where hopefully they’ve never been before,” Anderson said. “The details, that’s what the world is made of.”
