This movie has been released in the UK and the USA and has won four awards. This movie stars Meryl Streep and Helena Bonham Carter, two names you might have seen before. This movie is about women’s rights in the 1920’s. This movie is “Suffragette.”

“Suffragette” focuses on the story of Maud Watts, a working mother and wife. Her life is changed forever when she joins a growing U.K. suffragette group. Taught by outlaw fugitive Emmeline Pankhurst, Maud learns and becomes a true activist for the cause, along many other women fighting for women’s rights. The police soon become very aggressive with the activist group, forcing Maud and the other women underground. Maud and her fellow suffragettes play an intense game of cat and mouse with the police, who are baffled by how the group’s civil outbursts have sparked debate across the nation.

This thrilling drama was released in the USA on October 23rd, but comes to Harkins Theaters October 30th, and is one hour and forty six minutes long. “Suffragette” stars Helena Bonham Carter, Meryl Streep, Carey Mulligan, and many others. The director is Sarah Gavron and the producers are Alison Owen and Faye Ward. The writer is Abi Morgan and the movie’s distributor is Focus Features. This movie is PG-13 for strong language, partial nudity and intense violence.
