Kiara Mendez is a freshman at Desert Vista High School. Something you may not know about her is her dedication towards her academic success.

”I think if someone were to write an article about me, I would like them to focus on my education,” she said.  “Because I take it very seriously. And I make it a point to be a good student and get good grades,” said Kiara. 

When Kiara isn’t studying or playing volleyball she likes to play video games or scroll through social media.

”Um, usually when I’m just at home, I go on my phone or I’m playing video games,” she added.

It seems like Kiara is pretty good at video games!”  

Kiara also likes to spend time with her family as well by going on vacations. 

“One of my favorite memories was when I went to Disneyland with my mom and my brother,” she recalled.  “And it was very recent, actually, it was in March of 2020. And we went on a bunch of rides and just had a lot of fun.” 

Kiara loves the beach and anywhere tropical to vacation. 

“I  really like to go to like anywhere with a beach like California or like the Bahamas,” she said.

Kiara is not sure of what she wants her future to be. If she can maintain good grades she can be almost 100% certain for a good one. 

“I really like science, and um, like criminal justice and law. So maybe a detective but I still don’t really know.”
