Leila Wrschka is a 16-year-old girl at Desert Vista High School who has a deep, passionate love for drawing, and it shows. For Leila, art is not only a hobby, but it’s also therapeutic. To her, it’s important that emotions are expressed through art.

“I think that people have a lot of emotions that they feel on a daily basis, and a lot of people don’t have a way of expressing those emotions, and I feel that when you physically like draw out or express your emotions through art, you can really, like, work with those emotions and understand yourself a bit more when you’re really like showing it,” she said.

Leila has a certain style to her art. She has claimed her style is cartoony or almost anime-like.

Mainly now it’s a bit more cartoony like, I guess you could make a reference to like maybe like like a Japanese style art style you know like anime but then you know it’s it’s not it’s not anime it’s just like, you know, like cartoony features like big eyes,” she said.

Leila has grown in popularity on social media, where she will post her art and other creations. She also makes animations along with her artwork. I must say, it is quite impressive.

“I also have a Tik Tok account, and on there I post my animations because you can put cool audios to it. And over there. Usually, my friends interact with it but then I recently had a post, and it had about, like, I think like 5000 or 6000 views and there were a couple of comments follows and it was really cool and I was glad because I worked really hard on the animation,” she said.

But Leila has had some problems with motivating herself to post.

“I have an Instagram account where I post my art. I’m not very active on it. It’s kind of hard, I just have, you know, trouble motivating myself to post on here sometimes,” she said.

But I imagine when this pandemic is over, she will find more opportunities to post and share her talent.
