Syrian refugees in America

For the past few weeks following the Paris attack as well as other lower scale terrorist attacks, the debate over whether or not we allow Syrian refugees in America has grown tremendously.

For the past few months, millions of Syrians fleeing the violent civil war in their home country have been flooding through the borders of countries all over the world. Countries including the US have allowed Syrian immigration prior to the attacks but that has since changed.

Since the attacks, politicians have argued over the issue of the immigration of Syrian refugees in the U.S. The house recently passed a bill that blocked all refugees from Iraq and Syria however Obama, if it makes it to him, has stated he will veto the bill.

Over half of the governors in the US as well have said no to allowing refugees in their state.

Why? Because refugees pose a possible threat of acts of terrorism.

In the process of allowing refugees, they must obviously go through immigration however, we are not able to do background checks on them so we risk letting in possible terrorist making America way more vulnerable to attacks.

But some argue it as a moral issue saying it’s unethical to bar out innocent refugees looking for safety but that’s where the balance of ethics and caution are questioned.
