Man kidnapped during test drive

A car salesman showed his bravery after being beaten and thrown into a trunk after being asked to go out on a test drive in Houston, Texas.

On the evening of January 3 22-year-old Jose Martinez was asked to test drive a Dodge Challenger by a man. Martinez said in an interview with Eyewitness News that he “knew that the guy was a little sketch when (he) first met him” and told himself it would be just “a quick test drive and come back”.

Shortly after the two turned on a dark road, the man pulled over, hit Martinez and two men Martinez noticed following them got out of their car and came to Challenger.

Martinez reports they beat him, tied him up with a belt and tape and forced him into the trunk of the Challenger.

After getting the tape and belt off, he called his general manager to let him know what was happening, sent his location to a co-worker and turned on his “Find My Iphone” app on his phone which helped police locate the car.

Just as the kidnappers stopped to check on him, Martinez yanked the escape handle placed inside the trunk and got out. He claimed once he was out they again tried to beat him but he managed to grab one of their guns and he shot one of his attackers in the neck. The attackers drove off leaving him stranded.

His phone which was left in the trunk later helped police find the attackers but once they caught up to them, the suspects jumped out of their car after hitting a truck.

They fled the scene on foot but police were unable to catch them.
