Former Priest accused of 1960 murder by Mikaela Grubbs

John Feit was known for his kindness and compassion by his peers but his reputation has just recently been ruined by his past that not many can come to believe.

83-year-old Feit has worked done volunteer work at food banks in downtown Phoenix, raised money for a needy family to buy a house and performed many other acts of kindness to the less fortunate and those in need. On top of that he is a former priest and is still an active member in his church.

Although he is known for being as charitable as he was, what many of his friends did not know was that he was a suspect in a 1960’s rape and murder of a second grade schoolteacher in Texas.

25-year-old Irene Garza was killed in McAllen, Texas and last seen at the church Feit was a priest at. Garza’s body was found in a canal a five days later, Feit was the main suspect.

Due to a lack of evidence and tools the case went cold until 2004 when it was reopened but again feit was not indicted again to a lack of evidence.

However last Thursday, Feit was arrested for the murder after the case was again reopened by Hidalgo County District Attorney Ricardo Rodriguez

“This whole thing makes no sense to me, because the crime in question took place in 1960” Feit said in his first court appearance.

Additional details will be released once the extradition process to Texas in which Feit is fighting is complete.
