Google’s Atlas robot eerily human-like

Google and its robotic company, Boston Dynamics have created the next Atlas, its newest, most advanced robot. The model is the most human-like model Google has ever created. In a video Boston Dynamics released, the robot is shown opening doors, picking up boxes and walking through a snowy forest. In a separate video, Boston Dynamics employees are shown pushing Atlas over and the robot getting itself back up on its own. The humanoid robot has special sensors throughout its body to balance and LIDAR (light detection and ranging) and stereo sensors in its head to navigate terrain and avoid any obstacles. Atlas measures at about 5’9” tall and weigh approximately 180 pounds. This robot will not create revenue for Google yet, but is a huge advance in its robotics program.
