Should the moon have a name?

A resident from Salt Lake City has launched a global e-petition asking the International Astronomical Union (IAU) to give Earth’s moon a unique name. The Utah man, Tad Henderson, is the campaign leader of the “Name the Moon” campaign on Change.org. All other planets in the solar system have specific, interesting names for their orbiting satellites. Astrologers named many of these moons from Greek, Roman and Latin words and characters. On the petition page, there is a naming contest, where for one dollar you can contribute a name. Some submissions include Pax, Kai, Meme and Lani. This petition has launched others, including one to name the sun.
