Preparation for Chicago

On Tuesday, November 8th, held in the Dr. Joe McDonald Auditorium the Desert Vista Orchestra will be holding a concert, conducted by Dr. Wedington-Clark.

“We just performed at a festival,” said senior Sangbo Yoon, “We prepared a lot for that so we hope the effort will just carry over for the concert.”

The Orchestra has been working very hard over the last few months since school started, to make sure that they sound good and professional. They are working harder than ever in order to prepare for a trip to Chicago in December for a conference.

“This concert is about showing the school and community what we can do,” said senior Brian Kim, “It’s also a way for us to do one last ‘self-check’ before our trip to Chicago”

The concert is a way for the Orchestra to “show off” what they are able to do, and all of their abilities. They have been working everyday since August, coming in early for Zero-Hour. Perfecting their pieces and practicing for hours.

We had to send in a recording to a panel, they chose six orchestras to perform,” said Dr. Wedington-Clark, “We found out in April, we’ve been working since then. We have five freshmen who need to sound like they have been playing with this orchestra for years.”

They have been chosen to perform in The Midwest Clinic, an International Band and Orchestra Conference. This will be held in Chicago, Illinois on December 16th. The freshman in this particular orchestra will be working particularly hard to sound good.

“My students and I are all very excited.”  said Dr. Wedington-Clark.
