Preparing for College

Arizona State University located in Tempe is personally inviting students from local high schools, including Desert Vista, to the College Readiness event. This event was scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Students that intended on going needed to RSVP online at fsdfdaytempe.eventbrite.com in order to make suitable arrangements. It is never too early to begin thinking about college and this event was a great opportunity for students to go and explore the campus and to learn about what ASU has to offer.

“I have never heard of this event but it definitely would have been beneficial to go to when I was in High School. The first day of college for me was so nerve racking but if I would have gone to this event, I’m sure that it would’ve been very beneficial for me,” said junior at ASU, Eric Whiteside.

All the workshops that are included in this event are in English and Spanish, these are: Preparing for college, Paying for college, Step to the Top, a me3 demo room, and campus tours. The College Readiness event also consisted of various academic and educational resources, and presentations from their ASU Admissions and Financial Aid departments. This event is valuable to the students that are interested in going to ASU and have intended or plan on intending in the future; it could add to their prior knowledge about the school and it could also inspire and excite students that were still deciding on a college.
“I am very interested in going to ASU and I will probably attend the College Readiness event later on in high school,” said DV freshman Kaarina Makela. “This event seems valuable and it could help me decide what I want to be or what I am interested in going into at ASU. ”
