DV’s Engineering club appeals to students interested in creating hands on projects

Desert Vista has many clubs to offer, one of those clubs being the engineering club. Located in room A-109 students can come to work on a variety of projects the club has to offer. Including driving RC-Cars or working with the kits for the VEX robotics that the engineering classes are currently building. Club sponsor Dan Zaveleta explains the purpose and goal of the engineering club.

“The engineering club is actually an extension of our regular engineering class, what this club provides is an opportunity for the students to do more work, more development, more creative innovative ideas in the engineering field. It also gives them the opportunity to look at and see what other students are doing and help them in their career choices in the engineering fields,” -Zaveleta said.

With the limitless possibilities in the engineering world students have very lenient limitations.

“We stress a lot of safety when we’re using different materials and doing different projects and we want them to have a good time but we want them to also understand that we do have responsibilities to be able to make sure that they are learning, creating, and respecting others as well,” Zavelta added.

“Well the reason that I came it seemed fun so I’m a freshman so I don’t exactly know what you do in this club. But I’m liking it so far and I think that people that have been here before come here because they first enjoyed it and also maybe this is the type of stuff they want to do when they grow up and actually go to college and get jobs,” said Jeremy Fortunato, 9th grade club member.
