Lookin’ good

Lookin good

Some people make an effort to look good at school each and everyday. Others, they don’t really care (to a point) how they look and are just coming for learning purposes. Recent studies have shown that looking good can actually have an effect on your test scores. What’s that all about?

For girls in college, being attractive can be more that just natural beauty. Studies have been done by two economists from the Metropolitan State University of Denver that women that are categorized as attractive can lead to higher test scores. They have also found that this doesn’t just happen in college, and that it will follow them through adulthood.

Unfortunately for boys, this factor doesn’t play a role in their schooling. When studied, researchers found that, attractive or not, boys’ facial appearance does not change what score they get on a test. Along with this, they have other evidence to prove that this new theory might actually be true. They noticed that in online studies, nothing changed between the score that the student got on the test, and the teachers input. Of course, there was no changes since the teacher and student only have an electronical relationship. They can’t exactly notice if their student is relatively cute or not, since they only interact with them through a computer.

It is really interesting to see how being pretty can really help you in life. I can’t say that it will actually land you a job, but it seems to help some young women out during college. I find it pretty weird, and it would be fun to test this theory out on high schools, see if the same rule applies.
