Canned Food Fun

Do you want to help our community and get a yummy treat while doing it? If you do then help Desert Vista raise canned foods in the Canned Food Drive! Oct. 31 through Nov. 5 student council will be collecting canned foods to give to children in need. The food raised will go to the Tempe Community Action Agency.

This is also two competitions in one. The 3rd period class that raises the most canned food wins doughnuts! The whole school will also be working together to beat the six other schools in the Tempe Union District to win $500 for student council, so donate!

“Our goal is to raise more food than every other school in the district,” says Mr . Banach a teacher and the head of student council at Desert Vista. “I think we should all donate to help especially since it’s around the holidays.”

I think we are doing a great thing for the people who will receive the food we raise. They need it and I am glad our school gets to be a part of it. I hope we raise the most canned food out of all of the schools and have fun while doing it.

“We are trying to get as many canned food donations to be able to give back to the community. I think it’s awesome that DV student council is collecting canned food.” said freshman student council spirit director Karley Makay, “It’s an effective and easy community service opportunity for the whole school and it’s very inclusive for all students.”
