Minute Music Mayhem

Minute music helps Desert Vista students and teachers get to class on time. Five minute passing periods are already stressful enough for everyone; it is nice to have a fun one minute warning.

At Desert Vista High School passing periods are five minutes. That means five minutes to go to the bathroom, get to your next class, and socialize on time. The minute music goes off with one minute until class starts, it helps students and teachers know they need to get ready and start heading to class.

“Some days I think it’s good music others I don’t even know the song playing.” sophomore Bella Gracyalan said, “I think they should play more relevant songs instead of older ones that most students haven’t heard.”

A huge variety of songs play for the minute music, from 80s music to show tunes to pop. I think the minute music is a good idea because it helps me know when I need to start getting to class However they could choose better songs to play. Students are into pop, new artists, not songs from the 80s. I like some of the songs they choose but not all, I also like how they play songs regarding to what day it is, for example, on football game days they play the Desert Vista Fight Song. I think that is clever.

“I think the minute music is very effective for everyone.” freshman Clarissa Walter said. “I like getting to dance and sing a little before class starts, it helps me get focused and ready to learn. But sometimes I think they could choose better music to play and stop repeating songs, it gets annoying. Other than that, minute music is a good thing that Desert Vista needs!”
