Public Schooling is Superior to Homeschooling

It is no easy decision deciding the future of one’s education, it is the blueprints to a successful and prosperous life. That is why for generations parent and students heavily debate public school education vs homeschooling. Evidently, traditional public schooling is more beneficial.

Sophomore Rylie Ochhipinto says, “Public schooling is better than homeschooling because of the social interaction, no one wants their kid to grow up without friends”.

Humans are social creatures; we need to be around friends and acquaintances. When a student is homeschooled they are denied this social interaction. Friends or peers also enable some insight on a subject they are learning, and may be able to clear up confusion a teacher/parent could not.

Sophomore Kristi Preston says, “Public schooling has good benefits compared to homeschooling because parents might not be able to teach at the same level as an actual teacher”.

Public school offers a stronger education to students as well. They have teachers that specialize on a subject and are able to effectively tutor others. Meanwhile parents are not as well versed on the class material. Since students take an average of about six classes it would be much more difficult for the parent as well. This could take time away from their jobs or other responsibilities too.

Overall it is a wiser choice to have a traditional public school education. It provides a healthy social environment and enables students to learn more effectively than they would at home. There are also less distractions during school.
