When people think of high school sports, they probably think of football, basketball and baseball. But what they might not think of is tennis. At Desert Vista, the tennis team has done very well this season with the record of seven wins and three losses.

“We will make the playoffs for sure and we may have the potential to go to state,” says two-year assistant coach Austin Goe. “It’s been a great experience. It’s weird not playing. I’m there to guide them but not to play.”

Goe has a lot of high hopes for the team and loves coaching.

The Desert Vista Tennis team’s Yusuf Saleem has big plans to play after high school.

“I want to play in college. I want to play at an in-state college or close by like, maybe Utah State,” says Saleem. “I’ve been playing for about 13 years now and I’m ready to take it to the next level.”

“If you haven’t played tennis before I encourage you to try out,” says Coach Goe. “It’s a great experience and easy to pick up.”

The team has been great so far and is making a playoff push, ultimately to get to state. The team’s next match will be the playoffs, which start on April 27.
