Super Bowl predictions

Super Bowl 50 is a special occasion for football fans, as it marks the 50th anniversary of America’s biggest game. Thirty-two teams have begun competing to earn a place in Levi’s Stadium next February, and fans are already putting in predictions. Before too many weeks go by, here are three potential Super Bowl matchups to watch for:

The Green Bay Packers will defeat the Indianapolis Colts in a fast-paced shootout. The majority of NFL fans and analysts have picked these two teams, and why not? Aaron Rodgers and Andrew Luck combined for 78 touchdowns last year and each quarterback led their respective teams to a division title. While the Colts’ Luck did throw for two more touchdowns than the Packers’ Rodgers, the Packers are still the favorite to win this game, as Luck threw eleven more interceptions than Rodgers.

The Seattle Seahawks will defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers in a defensive game. It all came together on offense for the Steelers last year with wide receiver Antonio Brown catching 129 passes for more than 1,600 yards and 13 touchdowns, and with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger having the best statistical year of his career. However, they fell apart on defense, and against the Seahawks offense, led by running back Marshawn Lynch, they are a fish out of water. Seattle also has the league’s best defense, and if anyone can contain Brown, it’s the Legion of Boom.

The New York Giants will upset the New England Patriots yet again. This has already happened twice, and it could very well happen again. Tom Brady is fresh off his fourth Super Bowl win and he’s ready for another. On the other side, Eli Manning and his Giants have their best offense in years led by Odell Beckham, Jr. and the return of wide receiver Victor Cruz. Not to mention, Eli hasn’t lost to Brady since 2008.

Regardless of which teams are in, this Super Bowl is going to be an interesting one.
