Is there going to be an LA team?

In case you have not heard, the NFL is looking to put a team in Los Angeles for the first time since 1994. It is not hard to see why, as Los Angeles is a premier market, it is the 2nd biggest city in the United States, and home to Hollywood and movie production city. However, LA is notorious for having fair weather fans, so if a move were to happen, the market would be big, but the fans may not support it as much as some other cities.

Nonetheless, the NFL has been trying to get a team in LA for the longest time, and it seems unbreakable at this point, as the idea is picking up steam, with Disney’s CEO saying he would back a move to LA. It seems as if we are just waiting for an LA team at his point. The league can make this happen in a number of ways, such as a league wide expansion. The NFL could introduce two new teams, one in LA, and one in another city.

However, the NFL already has 32 teams, and two more may seem overkill.  The other way, which is the most likely, is a relocation for a team. There are three teams that are most likely to move, the San Diego Chargers, Oakland Raiders, and St. Louis Rams. First of all, the Chargers and Rams are the most likely to move to LA, as both teams are suffering through an ongoing process with their stadiums and cities. The Raiders are the least likeliest to move, as they have a hardcore fan base, and an up and coming team. The Rams also have a young and good team, and they have a fan base that will support them as long as they know their Rams are staying. Then we have the Chargers, a team trending downwards, with an old and aging roster, very hardcore city problems, and fair-weather fans. Also, the Chargers are right by LA anyways, so a move to LA may suit the Chargers well.

A move to LA seems unstoppable at this point, but out of all three teams the Chargers will be the best suited. Whatever happens, LA is a big money making market, and the league will do everything to get a team there.
