David Ortiz retires

David Ortiz of the Boston Red Sox has decided to retire after the 2016 season. Last week on twitter he said “ Life is based on different chapters, and I think I’m ready to experience the next one in my life”

Ortiz has been playing major league baseball for 20 seasons. He started with the Minnesota twins who later released him after his best season with them in 2002. The red Sox then picked him up for the 2003 season and he flourished.

He recently hit His 500th home run and has decided that he has done enough with his time in the MLB.

with his iconic left handed stance he led the Red Sox to their first world series championships since 1918 in 2004. With another two following in 07 and 13.

Being one of the oldest players in the league he performs extremely well in games. With a batting average of .284 and 2,303 career hits with a grand total of 503 home runs.
