Manny Wilkins survives car crash

Manny Wilkins, one of three ASU quarterbacks fighting for a starting position was driving to a training facility near his home in the bay area on March 11 when he was hit by another car and spun out hitting a guardrail twice before stopping. After the crash Wilkins checked for injury and said his neck felt stiff. Otherwise he was fine. “The next day was the day that my dad had passed away.” Said Wilkins,”So I think I had a guardian angel there watching over me”

He took the field on monday for the first day of spring training practices taking the snaps and practicing as the quarterback for the team.

This competition is supposed to last into the fall. Wilkins currently has the best shot because he is the only upper class men trying to get the position. The other two players both red shirts, Bryce Perkins and Brady White are freshman.

ASU’s offensive is currently very weak with four missing starters and receivers that lack experience on the field.

This summer another freshman will be joining the competition Dillon Sterling-Cole. Giving coach Todd Graham roughly 170 days to come up with the best man for the job.

The coaching staff has said they’re worried about “who gets them (the offensive line) lined up fast?Who takes the leadership role with the offense? Who gets the ball snapped?Who will the team responds to. That’s something that’s going to take some time to tell. It’s not going to show up day one in helmets.
