Emily Crall placed on Arizona running watchlist

Emily Crall, a Desert Vista senior, was placed on the Arizona running watchlist recently. Crall is a runner for the Desert Vista cross country team.

Last year, Crall placed second in a 133 person race for state, in Cave Creek, Arizona.

“It is a very challenging course with a lot of hard terrain and hills.”, says Crall, “We look forward to state every year.”

This past weekend Emily again placed second in the state finals, which had 100 participants. Desert Vista took 10 girls total, 7 girls from varsity and 3 girls from JV, to travel to Oregon and race in the George Fox XC Classic.

“The weather was super crazy.”, says Crall, “There were winds about 40-50 mph during the race. It was also raining and the course had lots of deep mud. We had a really great time in Oregon as a team. We raced really well and had an absolutely awesome time together. It was a weekend we won’t forget.”

Crall started cross country at Desert Vista as a junior. First running for Chaparral High School, her freshman and sophomore years. Crall plans to continue her running career in the future.

“I will be running for the University of New Mexico. They won the 2015 NCAA Division Cross Country Championship last year. I think i will become the best runner I can be in this program. I hope to contribute to the team as much as possible. When i am done at UNM, and if running post collegiately is an option, I will take it. If not I will be able to close the door on my competitive running career knowing I did everything I could.”
