Carly Bych

Desert Vista senior Carly Bych has recently received a soccer scholarship to Regis University, a private school in Denver, Colorado.

Bych has been playing soccer at Desert Vista since she was a freshman but she has been playing soccer since way before then.

“I have been playing since I was three,” Bych said. “Actually my dad got me into it. He signed me up for AYSO soccer when we lived in Seattle and I have just played since.”

Although Bych plans to play soccer in college, she plans to pursue her major in business and marketing after. Bych feels the college she choose can help her reach her financial goals in the business world.

“I like to be around people and I am good at business,” Bych said. “I feel like Regis can help me get where I want to in the business world.”

She says that the team gets along very well and they work efficiently with the team captains.  As a unit, they play proficiently and love each other like a family.

“It has been amazing here. Honestly we have such talented girls and Coach Marvin is awesome,” Bych said. “We love our captains so much and the team works very well together because most of us play club together too. We are basically sisters.”

Bych has been playing at Desert Vista since she was a freshman but she tore her ACL so she could not play when she first made the team. She continued to be a part of the team by being a manager and has been on varsity since sophomore year.

Freshman Katie Kreiner plays on Junior Varsity soccer at Desert Vista . She has watched Bych play for a while and has witnessed her being an amazing player and teammate.

“I think she is a very strong player,” Kreiner said. “She is really good at putting away shots and making things happen on the field.”

Bych says that finding out that she made it into Regis on a scholarship was a very long process but it was worth it.

“I had first reached out to Regis in March of this year,” Bych said.  “The coach had seen me play a couple times and when I finally got offered to come to the school it was honestly one of the best feelings ever. It felt like all my hard work had payed off and, as corny as it sounds, all my dreams were coming true.”
