10 year streak down the drain

Before spring break our Junior Varsity Girls Lacrosse team played Xavier College Prep. Expecting to lose because they had a ten year winning streak. As the Lax girls prepared for a tough beat they won 10-5.

“I think the team needs to work on communication and talking to each other to know where to go.” Said by Senior Allison Erskine

Now that spring break is over it’s back to everyday practice and weekly games. The first game back was against Xavier. The  Desert Vista girls thought it would be an easy win. Except that Xavier was back and ready to put up a fight.

“I that we play as one or individuals, we are more aggressive as a team.” Said by freshmen Grace Espinoza.

In the First eight minutes of the game Xavier had scored 3 points and #23 Grace Espinosa scored one and a few minutes later she scored again evening out the score to 3-3.

“We could work on ground balls and placing shots.” Said by Paige Matson, a freshmen

Not for long Xavier scored while then Desert Vista got the ball back and #20 Eli Kinkade scored and then #45 Sydney Franklin scored right before the first half ended.

“We need to work on passing and not panicking under pressure.” Said by sophomore Elizabeth Kinkade.

Second half started and D.V had already scored by Grace. Then #40 Sydney Sellinger scored making the score 7-5.  Right after #56 scored another point and Grace scored once again to a total of 9-5.

“We excel in working together, knowing where to be and when.” Said by junior Brianna Gustafson.

At the last five minutes Xavier pulled their weight and upped their points to eight but it was too late as the Desert Vista Girls had 10 points, all they had to do was block their attempted goals and keep them from their goalie.

“No we didn’t have to prepare much for this game just practice as usual but we were focused and determined to beat them.” Said by freshmen Savana  Murphy.
Our D.V. Girls had officially won again against Xavier. Finally their streak had officially been broken!
