Chris D’Angelo on his way to GCU

Desert Vista senior Chris D`Angelo was recently given a scholarship to Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. He enjoys the school’s academics but also the beautiful campus.

 

“Grand Canyon University is an awesome school academically,” says Chris, “and I have the opportunity to do what i love while i am in college.”

 

He says that he has dreams to be a professional runner and run recreationally in the future. He also wants to run in college and be an elite distance runner.

 

“During college i would love to be an elite distance runner,” says Chris,” I would also like to go to the NCAA national championship and then post college, the dream is to become professional but i will always be a runner even is i do not end up being a pro.”

 

Chris says that he started running in elementary school and has loved it since. He also says that his inspirations for running where his father and his old Physical Education coach.

 

“I started running in fifth grade,” says Chris, “ because it was just another sport I was persuaded to pursue from my PE coach. My dad inspired me to always be better and believe I can accomplish more than I think I can.”

 

Chris says that the team makes him want to come to practice every day and that his experience with Desert Vista has been unforgettable.

 

“The team is my favorite part,” says Chris, “The guys make me want to show up to practice every single day and work hard for them. The experience at DV has been truly unforgettable”

 

Chris says that the t am works extremely well together and that they are very close outside of school as well as in school.

 

“The team has always been a really close group,” says Chris, “The team and group are doing things all the time. During summer we do team breakfasts every Saturday morning, we go to the movies, and we go to school dances together.”

 

Chris says that he is lucky to have the coaches and influencers he has in his life and that he over his team.
