January HOSA madness

HOSA is a year-long science/health club held at Desert VIsta High School. The club is currently one of the largest at Desert Vista High School, and has around 20 different subjects. HOSA takes place after school every second Tuesday.

HOSA stands for Health Occupations Students of America. It is currently sponsored by Mr. Williams and Mrs.Rad. Student Leaders include; Alice Wong, Jocelyn Chen, Aarzoo Kumar, Brian Kim, Kaden Brown, Anika Porwal, Ryan Tong, and Missy Tran.

“I’m so grateful Desert Vista offers a club for medical studies, there isn’t another way to conveniently study and prepare for my future.” freshman Nathan Zhang said. “There are so many topics to choose from, and resources are easy to access.”

The middle of January is always a stressful time of year for HOSA members, as the testing begins. Members could choose either one or two subjects at the beginning of the year, and testing begins on January 13th. There are five testing days within January 13th to the 20th.

The top students in his/her subject will advance on to the next test (state competition). The online tests are held in the library computer commons during school. Results are expected to come soon.
