DV Children’s Book drive

Books can mean a lot to a child. They can open a world of wonder and imagination. They give children a chance to explore places they never thought they could, but within their minds. Which is why it is so great that DV had a children’s book drive on Saturday, April 15, 2017. DV students were encouraged to donate any old children’s books they didn’t want or use anymore to the Ironwood Library. If you stopped by and dropped a couple off books in the donation bin at the library you have delivered a child something so amazing, a chance to imagine. Books have such a positive effect on children so the fact that DV encouraged students to donate is great.

“Book drives are incredible! You are giving a child a chance to expand their education and their knowledge. They help children realize that they can be anything they want to be, and that they can do anything they want to do.” Says Karly Makay, “When you donate books you are able to take an intellectually rich object and pass it on to  someone else so that they can have a similar experience”

This is not the first they have done something like this before though, they had a Goodwill donation drive about a month ago and encouraged students to donate clothes, shoes, toys, etc. It was a great opportunity for students to get rid of items they didn’t need or use anymore. The same thing applies to this last donation drive, giving back to your community and inspiring children to read and further their education.

“It’s great that DV does donation drives, we are giving back to our community and we are giving back to those in need.” Says freshman Jordan Paige.
